Key facts about setting up a company in Expo City Dubai

Company registration can be completed remotely, whether you’re based in the UAE or abroad. The entire process typically takes around one month. It begins with the identification and confirmation of the leased space by Expo City. Once confirmed, the applicant must submit all required documents through the ECD Portal. If the application is being submitted by a representative on behalf of the shareholder, an attested Power of Attorney is required.

Choosing the wrong activity, registration authority, or location can lead to complications during the company registration process, and may affect your ability to open a bank account or obtain a residence visa.

At Expo City Dubai, you can choose from the following legal entities for registration:

  • Free Zone Limited Liability Company (FZ-LLC) – Ideal for newly established businesses

  • Free Zone Branch (FZB) – Suitable for branches or subsidiaries of existing companies

Additionally, you have the option to apply for a Freelance Permit or a Business Operation Permit, depending on your business needs.

To complete your company registration, you’ll need to provide a full set of documents for both the initial and final approval stages.

For Companies:

  • Passport copies of all licensed parties

  • UAE visa or previous entry stamp copies

  • Specimen signatures of all shareholders

  • Proposed trade name(s)

  • Selected business activity(ies)

  • Articles of Association

  • Shareholder resolution

For Individuals:

  • Qualification certificates and/or professional portfolio

  • Passport copy (valid for at least 6 months)

  • UAE visa or previous entry stamp copy

  • Recent colored photograph

  • No Objection Certificate (NOC), if sponsored

Once all documents are compiled and necessary paperwork is prepared, the required registration fees must be paid to move forward with the application process.

Once your application is approved, you will receive the following official documents:

  • Registration Certificate

  • Business License

  • Lease Agreement

  • Memorandum and Articles of Association (MoA & AoA)

The Establishment Card holds key details about your company and is essential for sponsoring residence visas on behalf of your business.

If you’re applying from within the UAE, once your entry permit is issued, you’ll need to convert your current visa status to a residence visa. If you’re applying from outside the UAE, you must enter the country, get your entry permit stamped upon arrival, and then proceed with the residence visa process by submitting the required documents.

Complete the mandatory medical examination and submit all necessary documents to obtain your residence visa. The number of visas available for company owners and employees may vary depending on the chosen registration package.

After your residence visa is approved, you can proceed to obtain your Emirates ID. Typically, the processing and issuance of both the visa and Emirates ID take about 5–7 working days from the date of visa approval.

Submit an application to a local or international bank in the UAE to open your corporate bank account. Once your account is set up and you receive the account details, you can begin operating your business in the UAE.

With our support, you can navigate the entire registration process smoothly and efficiently. There's no need to travel to Dubai for the initial setup — everything can be done remotely. However, you will need to visit the UAE for medical tests, visa processing, and opening your corporate bank account.
